23 SEPTEMBER 2026 — MARCONIWEG 5, THOLEN, NEDERLAND

Van Meer Expert Event 2026

An afternoon on the latest developments in drives, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. Van Meer and ABB share hands-on experience from installations running every day.

About the event

Electric drives are the heart of your production process. Yet most of them only get attention once something stops. An hour of unplanned downtime costs more than a full year of maintenance — and in most cases, the warning signs were there all along.

At the Van Meer Expert Event 2026, Van Meer and ABB show you how to move from reactive maintenance to predictable asset management: which data your drives already produce, how to turn it into concrete maintenance decisions, and what to arrange now for installations approaching the end of their supported lifecycle.

No sales pitch — technical content from engineers who work in these installations every day. The programme closes with a guided tour of our Drive Service Centre and Rotating Service Centre, including a live monitoring demo on the test field.

Who should attend?
Maintenance managers, reliability engineers, asset managers, project engineers, operations managers and plant managers in manufacturing, utilities, food, chemicals, marine and water.

TECHNICAL SESSIONS

Explore the seminars below and select your two preferred sessions during registration.

ACS600 and ACS800 end of life: mapping your migration to ACS880

Thousands of ACS800 drives are still running daily while support is winding down. What does that mean in practice for spare parts, response times and risk? This session covers the available migration routes, what you can reuse in cabinets and cabling, how to plan a phased replacement without stopping production, and how to build the business case for your management team.

Condition monitoring on drives: from measurement to decision

DC grid design with regard to short-circuit withstand capability and selectivity is extremely critical due to the required ultra-fast short-circuit disconnection times. During this presentation, Van Meer will address the challenges, basic engineering tools, and different types of protection for DC grids. The advantages and disadvantages of solid-state bus-tie breakers will also be discussed.

Condition monitoring on rotating equipment: what we see in customer installations

Instead of checking motors, pumps and fans four times a year with a handheld meter, a permanent sensor measures vibration, temperature, magnetic flux and speed around the clock and sends it to a dashboard — and the value is in the trend, because bearing wear, misalignment, imbalance and lubrication problems announce themselves weeks to months in advance. In this session Chiel walks through real cases from live installations: which failures we saw coming well ahead of time, which ones we missed and why, what a realistic monitoring programme actually costs and delivers, and the most common mistakes made when starting one.

Innovative Switching and Protection Technologies for Efficient, Safe and Sustainable Marine Installations

Ruben and Jeroen are part of the Maritime Segment Team at ABB Electrification. In close collaboration with partners, they develop integrated solutions that contribute to greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability in marine applications. During this presentation, they will guide you through the latest developments in switching and protection technology for both AC and DC installations, demonstrating how ABB’s solutions address the challenges and opportunities within the maritime industry.
