In collaboration with ABB and HKS, Van Meer has launched an upcycling program for outdated electric motors. This initiative focuses on repurposing rejected and inefficient motors, with a strong emphasis on circular economy principles.
A Sustainable Solution for the Future
When electric motors reach the end of their life cycle, this program provides a sustainable solution: upcycling. The motors are collected and sent to HKS’s recycling facilities, where they are carefully dismantled, and valuable materials like copper, aluminum, and steel are separated. With an impressive 98% recycling rate, these materials are reintroduced into the European production chain.
Pursuing CO₂ Emissions Reduction This project not only contributes to waste reduction but also reduces CO₂ emissions by using recycled materials instead of new resources. This aligns seamlessly with ABB and Van Meer’s ambitions to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the ecological footprint.
Innovation and Future Resilience This partnership ensures that even rejected motors can make a valuable contribution to a more sustainable industrial process. Together, we are building a greener and more efficient future. By sharing innovative techniques, we can not only improve the efficiency of our processes but also make a broader impact within the sector in which Van Meer operates.
